A Closer Look
Mahal — Persia
Mahal rugs were woven in the Western center of Iran during the 19th century as a result of the expanding cottage industry. They were woven by families and generally weaved with an all over pattern, with some featuring a medallion in the center. They usually have a loose or moderate weaving with a thicker pile.
They are a highly desired rug and are known for their originality and artistry. They are highly decorative when it comes to aesthetic, appealing strongly to both rug enthusiasts and interior designers.
