Tabriz — Persia
The city of Tabriz, located at the foot of the beautiful Elburz Mountains, has a noteworthy history as the source of the most venerated weavings. These rugs are known for their high knot density and feature an endless array of elaborate patterns, all flawlessly executed. You can find Tabriz rugs showcasing medallions of all shapes and sizes, gardens with wide varieties of floral motifs and palmettos, hunting scenes and an assortment of curvilinear patterns
Since the middle of the 19th century, Tabriz has lead a resurgence in Persian carpet-weaving. With strict standards of craftsmanship and quality of materials used, Tabriz rug weavers produced tight densely-knotted structures and elaborate floral displays.
